This Mild Application Ascender/Descender Belay Device is all you need for short pitches and steep terrain. Just unclip it, put any 10mm-13mm rope inside, and clip it back together for an easy upward traverse with downward protection. When you're ready to descend, slowly move your body lower and pull the trigger mechanism to adjust the descender down your rope. It's made of high-strength aluminum alloy and capable of withstanding weight of 220lbs (100kg). It weighs about 7oz and can be attached to anything with a carabiner.
